THE ROCKFORD ROUTE -- a trip along the Rockford-Momence, IL line of The Milwaukee Road (the one-time Chicago Milwaukee & Gary). This railroad, originally conceived as a "belt line" around Chicago would have operated between Milwaukee, WI and Valparaiso, IN. Although it never operated outside of Illinois, it once served such communities as Rockford, DeKalb, Aurora, Joliet and Momence -- and even briefly offered scheduled passenger service.
 
Come along as noted rail photographer, historian and published author William Shapotkin takes us on a trip along one of the more obscure rail lines in Northern Illinois.
