Program: Meetings have Moved!! The February meeting will be held in our new location in the newly renovated Founder's Room at Union Station. The room is located in the Southwest corner of the Great Hall, sharing the same entrance with the Legacy Lounge. Years ago, this area served as the station's barber shop.
The Member’s Meeting will be Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 7pm. In the heyday of rail passenger transportation Chicago was home to 6 major railroad terminals. This program covers the history, architecture and engineering behind these great structures, and the railroads that built and used them. Presenter Dave Daruszka is a retired locomotive engineer and rail history aficionado who studies and blogs about Chicago's railroad past and present.
LOCATION Our meeting location is the Founder’s Room of Chicago Union Station at 500 W. Jackson Blvd in downtown Chicago. Parking is available at various lots including Amtrak’s garage, which has a connecting tunnel to the station and costs $21. The lot at Monroe & Jefferson (2 blocks from station) has a flat rate of $8 for in after 3 PM and out by 10 PM. Another smaller lot at 320 S. Clinton has a flat rate of $8 for in after 4 PM and out before 8 AM. The outdoor lot that you may be familiar with, next to the Amtrak Garage off Jackson, is no longer open and is now a bus terminal. Food and beverages are available in the station.
NOTE: should a meeting be canceled, we'll post a note on the website and a message on our phone number 312-829-4500.
